About the brother, in their own words.
HI there! My name is Betsy Tompkins and I am a senior at Longwood. I am majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. The best part about being a senior---GRADUATION IN TWO MONTHS!! Let me tell you a little bit about my involvement with APO.

I pledged the AAO chapter in the Spring of 1995. This is my 7th semester in the fraternity and I sometimes referred to as an "old brother". I have held two offices during my time in APO. My first office I held in 1996 which was Publicity and then last year I had the privilege of being the Vice President of Service. My biggest goal last year was for our chapter to participate in National Service Week and obtain the participation pins.

We organized two projects for NSW--one was collecting items for a homeless shelter in Richmond and the other was having college organizations adopt families in the community that would not be able to have a bountiful Thanksgiving, and then provide that family with food for Thanksgiving! The results from these projects were wonderful!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with APO. I have made lots of friends and have had the privilege of doing things that I never thought I would do. It will saddened me to leave school in May, but I know that our chapter will remain strong.

My advice to everyone out there. If you are not a brother, consider joining this wonderful organization. If you are a brother then keep up your devotion to APO. Continually offer new suggestions and ideas in order to keep your chapter going in a positive direction. There are times when some rough spots might be hit, but as long as everyone works together as a brotherhood, anything can be accomplished!!!
